Bernard Malamud (1914-1986) was a major American novelist and short story writer. He received a Pulitzer Prize for The Fixer (1966) and two National Book Awards for the Magic Barrel (1959) and The Fixer (1966). Malamud taught at Oregon State University from 1949-1961.
